One last hotpot — or point yourself at Chengdu, about two hours away by high-speed rail, the classic Sichuan-basin double act.

Is the Dazu day trip worth a full day?
If carvings and temples are your thing, yes: it's a UNESCO World Heritage cliff of 9th–13th-century statuary rivaling Dunhuang in scale. Baoding Mountain is the essential site if you only see one; the 1.5–2 hour ride each way is why it needs its own day.
